Welcome Party People!

Updated: Jul 19, 2023

Hello and welcome to my first Artist Update! I'd love to introduce myself.

My name is Jena and I was born and raised in Cincinnati, Ohio. I am an avid Reds and Bengals fan and have enjoyed watching both teams grow into what they have become over the last couple years. (Though it's taken quite some time and a whole lot of heartbreak). Being from Cincinnati, I feel it's appropriate to tell you that I went to an all girls Catholic high school called McAuley. I know, no one else probably understands our weird obsession with high schools (honestly, I don't get it either), but it IS a thing. It's also where I truly discovered my love for the world of art.

In college, I actually started out as a fine arts major at Miami University in Oxford, OH. However, I ended up graduating with a bachelors degree in business management. The pressures of society and "making it" in the real world won out over my love for creation.

After graduation, I moved to Cleveland where I started my career in technology. For 7 years, I built a successful career as a business analyst. During this time, I painted and drew sporadically, but always felt as though art, not technology, was what I was truly meant to do.

I met my husband at my first job and we continued our tour of Ohio by moving to our current home in Columbus, OH. After getting married and planning for our family, we decided that I would stay at home to raise our babies. This meant leaving my role in technology for a while and with all the new free time I'd have, surely I would have plenty of time to create 😂 Little did I know, postpartum anxiety was real and babies take up all of your time.

Once my girls became a bit more independent, I decided it was time to try actually setting boundaries and getting back into my creative practice again. In talking with some good friends, I was encouraged to start sharing my art. From there, I opened up my business (with the help of my husband) and the rest, they say, is history.

I am so happy to have you here and to share not only my artwork, but my life with you as well. So much of my work is influenced by my experiences of joy and hardship and I am very excited to take you on this journey with me. I truly love connecting with others and I hope you'll enjoy a peak into my creativity.

My plan for this blog is to keep you updated on new artwork, my inspiration, and provide updates on life in general. Writing is sometimes difficult for me and takes a good amount of time, so don't expect to be bombarded. However, I do have a lot to say and to share, so I hope you'll come along with me on this new journey into blogging.

Xoxo,

Jena
